Leaves and Yard Waste

SPRING YARD WASTE COLLECTION has been completed for 2017.
Watch for the Fall Yard Waste Collection dates in your newsletter and on the website.

Yard waste collections are intended for routine yard cleanup of garden plant material, green hedge trimmings, ornamental grasses and tree branches. Items for collection should NOT be placed in the streets more than 1 week before the posted collection dates.

Yard waste piles that contain any of the following will not be collected and it will be the property owner's responsibility to dispose of the materials.
  • Trees that have been cut down
  • Anything in bags or containers (except in Hebron)
  • Grass Clippings
  • Rocks
  • Garbage and/or trash
  • Animal Feces
  • Roots
  • Dirt

During the Spring collection, leaves and appropriate yard waste may be placed at the curb.

Leaves and yard waste are collected curbside twice a year.  In April each street in the township is checked 1 time to collect leaves and yard waste combined.  The start date will be published in our March newsletter and posted on this website.  Since collection is only 1 time, it is very important to have your leaves and yard waste curbside by 7 a.m. on the start date.

In October, we will make 1 trip around the township to collect yard waste only. This start date will be published in the September newsletter and posted on this website.  Leaf collection will begin after the yard waste collection (usually around October 15th) and will continue until the beginning of December.  REMEMBER, this collection is for leaves only.  The dates for this program will be published in the September newsletter and posted on this website.

If you have leaves or yard waste at other times during the year, we have an agreement with North Cornwall Township which allows our residents to make use of their yard waste drop-off facility.  If you would like to use their facility, you must obtain a certificate of residency from our township office.  The charge to use the North Cornwall facility is $30 for a yearly permit or $4 per 30 gallon bag/container.  If you opt for the yearly permit, there will be a $5 deposit required for a key card.  When you return the key card, your $5 will be refunded.  North Cornwall does not accept cash or credit cards, so be prepared with a check or money order.

Please note that the North Cornwall Township facility DOES NOT ACCEPT GRASS CLIPPINGS!
The best option for grass clippings is to mulch as you mow.
If you do need to dispose of grass clippings, the Greater Lebanon Refuse Authority (GLRA) does accept grass clippings. See their website for details about fees and licensing
