Watch this site or the newsletter or call the Township at 717-274-0481 for the Spring / Fall Yard Waste Collection and Leaf Collection dates.
For Leaf Collection in the Fall, place piles at curbs of major roadways. The leaf vacuum machine will not collect in most alleys due to the size of the machine. Avoid piling leaves around trees and poles. Do not include branches or other yard waste in leaf piles. Piles should be free of rocks and trash. Do not bag leaves.
Yard waste collections are intended for routine yard cleanup of garden plant material, green hedge trimmings, ornamental grasses and tree branches.
Please bundle long grasses with twine.
Place items for collection completely on the street.
Items for collection should NOT be placed in the streets more than 1 week before the posted collection dates.
Place yard waste at the curb at major roadways. The collection machines will not go down most alleys due to the size of the machines. Avoid placing branches and other yard waste around trees or poles. This makes it difficult for the machines to safely pick up the materials.
Yard waste piles that contain any of the following will not be collected and it will be the property owner's responsibility to dispose of the materials.
- Trees that have been cut down
- Anything in bags or containers (except in Hebron)
- Grass Clippings
- Rocks
- Garbage and/or trash
- Animal Feces
- Roots
- Dirt
During the Spring collection, leaves and appropriate yard waste may be placed at the curb.
Leaves and yard waste are collected curbside twice a year. In April each street in the township is checked 1 time to collect leaves and yard waste combined. The start date will be published in our January newsletter and posted on this website. Since collection is only 1 time, it is very important to have your leaves and yard waste curbside by 7 a.m. on the start date.
In late September, we will make 1 trip around the township to collect yard waste only. This start date will be published in the July newsletter and posted on this website. Leaf collection will begin after the yard waste collection (usually around mid-October) and will continue until the end of November. REMEMBER, this collection is for leaves only. If you have leaves or yard waste at other times during the year, the Township has a Yard Waste and Recycling Center and you can get an access card at the Township Office located at 1800 S 5th Ave.

Please fill out the application and return it to the Township Office located at 1800 S 5th Ave Lebanon, PA 17042, with payment (cash or check, NO DEBIT/CREDIT CARDS). An access card allows our residents to make use of the drop-off facility throughout the year. As of April 2021, we have Intermunicipal Agreements with: Cornwall Borough, Heidelberg Township and West Cornwall Township. Residents from those municipalities can obtain a permit and utilize the drop-off facility throughout the year.
The agreement between South Lebanon Township and North Cornwall Township ended on December 31, 2020 due to opening our own facility. If you have a card for the North Cornwall facility, you can return the key card to North Cornwall Township.
Please note that the Yard Waste and Recycling Center DOES NOT ACCEPT GRASS CLIPPINGS!
The best option for grass clippings is to mulch as you mow. If you do need to dispose of grass clippings, the Greater Lebanon Refuse Authority (GLRA) does accept grass clippings. See their website for details about fees and licensing.
Any questions on the Township's recycling program can be directed to Mary at 717-274-0481 ext. 110 or email at sltownship@comcast.net and we will respond as soon as possible.
